On-site roadside assistance or towing — what do you need?
Sometimes a jump start is enough. Sometimes the vehicle has to go to the garage. We’ll tell you on the spot what makes sense.
When roadside assistance is enough
Flat battery: a jump start is usually enough. The engine starts, you drive on and the alternator recharges the battery.
Flat tyre: if you have a spare wheel, we’ll change it. You drive on.
Lost or locked-in keys: we open the vehicle (without damage where possible).
Wrong fuel: we pump out the tank, you drive to the garage and have the rest flushed.
When towing is necessary
Engine won’t start despite a jump start: garage.
Suspected engine damage (strange noises, smoke, oil leaking): garage.
Gearbox trouble (won’t shift, juddering badly): garage.
Vehicle no longer drives straight or pulls strongly to one side: garage.
Electronic fault that prevents the start: garage.
The difference in practice
Roadside assistance means: we come, check the problem, fix it on the spot (where possible) and you drive on. This often takes only 15 to 30 minutes.
Towing means: we come, load your vehicle and take it to the garage or home. This takes longer and costs more.
What we check on site
We look at the vehicle, check the battery, listen to the engine (if it starts), look at the warning lights. Then we tell you honestly: roadside assistance is enough, or it has to go to the garage.
We also earn money if we only provide roadside assistance. You don’t have to worry that we’ll tow you unnecessarily just to charge more. We tell you what is really needed.
Special cases (underground car park, all-wheel drive, electric)
Underground car park: some tow trucks don’t fit in. We know Munich’s underground car parks and what works where. Call us beforehand and we’ll tell you whether we can get in.
All-wheel-drive vehicles: often may not be towed with two wheels on the ground. We load them completely onto the flatbed.
Electric vehicles: may not be towed conventionally (the drivetrain can be damaged). Here too: the flatbed.
